Cat Anatomy

W.I.P.

Some roleplayers like to include fancy cat anatomy words in their roleplays. I, personally, don't use them too often because it confuses people and makes it look like I'm trying too hard to appear smart. Anyway, whether you're trying to learn them for your own use in a roleplay, or you're trying to translate the pain-in-the-a** vocabulary many rogues use, here's a list of some commonly used terms for you.

Canine teeth (canines): the large, sharp teeth located in the front of the mouth used mostly for biting into things such as prey.

Roleplay Example: "The she-cat sunk her canines into the flesh of the predator."

--------

Incisors: the row of small front teeth that are nestled between the two canine teeth.

Roleplay Example: "She felt the blood from the rat she had bitten wash over her incisors."

--------

Carnassial teeth (carnassials): the hack teeth used for biting through things (especially prey), all located behind the canine teeth.

Roleplay Example: "Palestar looked at the teeth of the tom cat as he bit into a frog. She couldn't help but notice that one of his carnassials was cracked, but only a little bit."

--------

Mandible: the lower jaw bone of the cat.

Roleplay Example: "The badger swatted at her, almost damaging her mandible."

 --------

Maxilla: the upper jaw bone of the cat.

Roleplay Example: "The tom had hurt his maxilla in the battle the other day, also possibly resulting in damage to his memory since he had also been hurt on top of his skull as well."

 --------

Rhinarium: the small, fleshy and usually pink skin surrounding the nostrils; the nose (not to be confused with the inside of the nose).

Roleplay example: "She got closer to her mate and touched her rhinarium to his."

 --------

Larynx: the cat's voice box. Allows them to purr, meow, etc.

Roleplay Example: Otterstep laid down, emitting a deep purr out of his larynx.

 --------

Scapula: the cat's shoulder blade, which is located on the side of their body instead of on top like twolegs.

Roleplay Example: "The ferocious warrior lept at Palestar, raking his claws down the skin near her scapula."

 --------

Metacarpals: front foot bones making up a paw of a cat.

Roleplay Example: "Palestar cleaned her metacarpals, washing away the newly leaked blood that she received from her most recent battle.

 --------

Phalanges: the back foot bones making up the back paws of a cat.

Roleplay Example: "The soft, moist earth felt odd when it collided with her phalanges."
